Software Quality Assurance (test) Engineer

Airios is looking for a Software Quality Assurance (Test) Engineer to join our R&D team in Veldhoven, The Netherlands.

​Your role

As a software quality assurance engineer, you will report to the Group Leader Software Engineering. You will be part of the software group in the R&D department consisting of more than 30 architects, soft- and hardware engineers and organized into several scrum teams. An SQA (software quality assurance engineer) is part of one or more agile development teams.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement system level (smoke) tests, hands on maintenance for test infrastructure, and educate developers to be able to contribute to it as well.

  • Build knowledge about products being developed and guide/support the team in ensuring there is an acceptable level of functional test coverage and traceability.

  • Act as the go-to person in the team, for guidance in all matters related to testing and quality.

  • Review unit tests, unit-integration tests, and system smoke tests made by software developers.

  • Collaborate with fellow SQA to work towards a coherent testing road map for software and common practices.

  • Support the definition of a project test strategy, release test plan, and validate the release test report to sign off on the release.

  • Propose and implement technical enablers that improve the ease of testing, and enhance visibility of the state of quality in the software group.

Education and experience

We are looking for a candidate with the following experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering study, such as Computer Science, Embedded Systems, Electrical or Electronics Engineering.

  • A minimum of 5 years’ hands-on experience as a software quality assurance and test engineer.

  • Good knowledge in one or more of gherkin, python, C, C++, C# and Type script.

  • Solid know-how of ISTQB standards, preferably certified.

  • Hands-on testing experience on embedded systems incorporating sensors, connectivity, networking, IOT/smart home and their business logic.

  • Knowledge of technologies like RF, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Modbus, and embedded communication protocols is preferred.

  • Experience using quality metrics and dashboards to keep track of software quality in the organization.

  • Experience in handling PCBs and related measuring equipment.
