Embedded Software Engineer - Skilled Professional

​Your role

As an embedded software engineer with professional experience, you will report to the Group lead of software engineering. You will work in the R&D team consisting of over 30 architects, soft- and hardware engineers and organized in several scrum teams. We use agile methodologies and tools. The teams usually work on various activities at the same time, both new product development and maintenance on existing products. 

 

Key Responsibilities:​

• You are part of a scrum team consisting of 6 to 8 software engineers, working in a two-week sprint cycle. 

• Help the product owner formulate functional requirements and define stories to be refined. 

• Support system architects with platform improvements and code quality. 

• Guide less experienced colleagues in designing and implementing high quality embedded software, following industry standards and practices. 

• Define software requirements, design solutions, implement and review functional code, and ensure automated tests are implemented for them.  

• Work in cross-team focus groups, to support challenging companywide priorities. 

• Take the lead, to improve the team’s way of working. 

• Will provide clarity to your stakeholders like project leaders, group leaders about your team’s progress. 

• Will contribute to defining processes and standards across the entire software group of 25 engineers. 

• Collaborate with Software Quality assurance engineer to guarantee product quality in your team. 

 

Education and experience

We are looking for an embedded software engineer who has demonstrable industry experience in embedded software development. If you are looking to continue your career growth, we welcome you to get in touch. 

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering study, such as software, computer science, embedded systems, electrical/electronic engineering.  

• At least 5 years of experience in a comparable embedded software working environment. Experience in Dutch high-tech sector is a strong plus. 

• You have professional knowledge of C++, C, Python and preferably C#. 

• You have mastered and applied software design concepts like object-oriented programing, SOLID and design patterns. 

• Knowledge of tools and environment like JIRA, Git, Gtest/Gmock, Pytest, clang, CI/CD using Jenkins/gitlab. 

• Software knowhow with embedded technologies and protocols like I2C, SPI, UART, Modbus, RF, BLE, RF, and Micro controllers.  

• Working in an agile/scrum environment.  

• Affinity with connectivity and networking (Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, NB-IoT, sub-GHz), IoT/Smart Home, and/or security is a plus.  

• Knowhow with LLMs in a spec driven development workflow, and concepts of agents, context, is a plus. 

• Experience with heating and ventilation products, battery powered devices is preferred.
